Ampath provides a variety of management and support services to the clinical laboratories.
Our primary goal is to provide Pathology related services to health care practitioners and their patients.
We serve a diverse group of over 15 000 clients, medical practitioners, as well as insurance, governmental, managed health care, industrial organisations and other pathology practices belonging to the National Pathology Group.
Our facilities are accredited and ISO certified by the South African National Accreditation Authority.

We are committed to remain Southern Africa’s foremost laboratory, we have consistently served the medical community with quality results and careful attention to client needs and requests. We are well-known for our accuracy of testing, rapid turn-around time and industry leading data-processing support systems. Our facilities are accredited and ISO certified by the South African National Accreditation Authority. Over the years, the staff complement has grown to more than 4 500, mostly laboratory professionals. 120 registered pathologists, from all disciplines, provide a nationwide analytical and consultative service. We have implemented performance management and mentoring programmes. Extensive training opportunities are offered for staff at all levels. The laboratories of the various Incorporated Practices offer over 2700 different diagnostic analyses. Our extensive national network of more than 300 facilities includes reference laboratories, regional laboratories, satellite (STAT) laboratories and service depots. Our comprehensive quality system with regard to laboratory performances assures accurate and reliable results through regular and systematic surveillance of all key components of our activities, inclusive of training, instrumentation, logistics and management. Our laboratories participate fully in relevant national and international quality control programmes for all tests offered. In accordance with the very sensitive nature of patient care and confidentiality, we adhere to strict protocols governing patient identification in our laboratories. Our services also comply with all relevant Laboratory Standards Organisation specifications to ensure that test requests are properly executed. Our major laboratories, and most of our satellite laboratories, are SANAS accredited. Consequently, we are able to focus on our primary aim of delivering consistent accurate and interpretive results to our widely dispersed and diversified client base. Our goal is to develop an international laboratory network that will add value for all stakeholders by delivering a comprehensive quality pathology service that is reliable, cost effective and timely.
