What you should know about Body Stress Release
The spinal column is comprised of 26 individual bones, these bones are referred to as vertebrae. This continued for six years and exhaustion and despair plunged her into a deep depression. She had a series of BSR sessions over several months and gradually the symptoms cleared. Tension had locked into her neck in that whiplash, but it took six years for the impact on the nervous system to build up to the point of severely disturbing function. The body stress stored in the neck structures may cause pain and stiffness and an inability to fully turn the head. As the lower neck supplies the nerves to the arms, there may be pain or numbness in the shoulder, arm or hand. The tension in the neck may cause headaches or pain in the face or jaw. The pressure may irritate nerve pathways which connect with the eyes, nose and mouth and this could adversely affect vision and the senses of smell and taste. Body stress in the neck area may also have an impact on nerve connections to internal organs, such as the heart, lungs and digestive system, undermining normal function. This was the start of many years of pain and many, many different therapies which guaranteed to take away the pain. Then it got worse, then better and better and better. The South African Body Stress Release Association was formed in The Association controls the mode of practice of practitioners, and is governed by its constitution, a legal document by which all practitioners are bound. The purpose of the constitution is to maintain high professional standards of practice which ensure public safety. It provides a code of ethics, a framework to keep practitioners functioning within the scope of practice and disciplinary powers to deal with misconduct. The Association holds an annual three day educational conference which includes the annual general meeting and the election of the members of the executive committee. In addition workshops and seminars are arranged three times a year in the various regions, as the constitution requires that practitioners attend a minimum of five hours of continuing education. This covers technique review and research findings, and provides an opportunity for practitioners to share ideas. Graduates of the BSR Academy receive a registration number from the Board of Trustees which confers membership of the association in the country in which they are resident.
