What you should know about CS Physio
Your goals are more easily achieved if we work as a team. Education is always a big part of my treatment strategy. This is where working together becomes vital in order to modify or substitute your activities and to develop practical and time-efficient home exercise programs that you will actually have time to do. Low level laser therapy is used by physios to reduce pain and facilitate tissue healing. Increases energy production within cells which speeds up healing. Collagen is one of the building blocks of muscles, tendons and ligaments. Improves circulation which leads to improved oxygen delivery and removal of waste products. Laser therapy is widely used in the treatment of chronic pain, e.g. Because it speeds up the healing process it is used to treat a variety of acute injuries including ligament sprains and muscle strains as well as conditions such as tendonitis. It is also useful in the treatment of skin conditions such as diabetic ulcers and scars. The ultrasound waves cause the tissues in the body to alternately compress and expand which results in small changes to the shape of the cells. Blood brings oxygen which is needed for healing and removes waste products caused by injury. Increased metabolism (the chemical processes happening within the cells). This is useful when treating older injuries where there is already scar tissue. Dry needling is a technique used to treat trigger points (muscle knots). It is often confused with acupuncture which uses the same needles but is based on a different theory. When a trigger point is needled, a very fine, flexible needle is placed into the muscle. Healthy muscle feels very little discomfort when the needle is inserted. Muscle pain is felt locally and/ or in the referral pattern of the trigger point. After dry needling the muscle often feels stiff and uncomfortable. Heat and stretching can help to reduce this stiffness. It reduces pain by causing your body to produce natural painkillers and feel-good hormones. The needle irritates the muscle slightly which causes blood to rush to the area. The blood brings oxygen which is needed for the chemical reaction in the muscle that causes relaxation. Once the initial stiffness following the needling has passed, the muscle is less painful and more flexible and movement is easier and less uncomfortable. Dry needling is useful for treating a variety of conditions including headaches, chronic neck and back pain, tendonitis and muscle strains.
