Firstly Dankorama is an open farm. The farm is +- 270 Hectares in size and situated within the Old Welgevonden 124JR farm. The Welgevonden farm is +-1600 hectares in size and Dankorama is situated almost in the centre. The Welgevonden farm is fully enclosed with Game fence while Dankorama is enclosed on the western and eastern border. Dankorama is an open Nguni Cattle farm that my grandfather bought 2 generations ago. With the farming economic drought I decided to start a small hunting business as a secondary income for the farm.Little did I realize what I got myself into as the Hunting industry in South Africa is is very large. I was so interested that I started studying (part time as I am a qualified Medical Doctor) at Wildlife Campus online, studying Game Ranch Economics, Field Guiding etc. I also did a professional hunting course at David Sutherland hunting academy in Limpopo. This being said my goal with Dankorama Huting is for other local hunters to experience mainly Trophy Warthog hunting, Bushpig hunting and Kudu hunting. Dankorama fully complies with ethical hunting and the fair chase principle.Regarding accommodation: I fixed the farm house that my grandfather built many moons ago. The August wind blew the roof off and a lot of my work and effort went into upgrading the infrastructure. The farm House is rustique with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and an inside bath. The toilet is situated outside. I inserted four brand new single beds in the bedrooms, I fully managed to fixed the farm house to the level where I will take my wife to sleep there. All night fees go towards further upgrading and maintaining the accommodation facilities. Plans for the future include outside showers, toilets, braai area and upgrading the boma. The cost will be R800-00 per night for the farm house and the farm house maximum capacity is four people. It is only R200-00 per night per hunter. It is cheaper than camping.
Summary for a single hunter weekend R200-00 night fee therefore R400-00 for two nights.This is a photo of a warthog boar hunted at Dankorama Hunting Ranch by Neil Pienaar towards the end of the 2016 hunting season. I am using a method whereby I control the warthog population by selectively hunting Trophy warthog. Hunting as a tool of animal conservation is a large factor contributing to Dankorama Trophy warthog hunting. By selectively hunting the dominant territorial boar the amount of boars in that specific area would increase as they would compete for the territory. The more dominant male will obviously occupy this area and is usually more likely to be a trophy warthog. Warthog Trophy boar are measured by there tusk length. A warthog boar with a tusk length of 13" or more would be regarded as a trophy. This is a tall task with regards to warthog hunting and many hunters would spend there whole life trying to hunt a trophy warthog and will never succeed. Warthog Boar will be charged at R600-00 and a Warthog Sow R700-00. The trophy warthog price will be R1300-00This is a photo of a Warthog boar hunted by myself. The shot was taken at 180 meters with a .243 just before dawn. If you look carefully you will notice my 'boerboel' on my lap. Not the best hog hunting dog I must admit. More importantly notice my cartridge holder only has two or three rounds left. This is because my first shot was in the abdomen and after this three warthog ran from the feeding spot. I got rid of a little bit of anger on them where after I saw that my first shot wasn't good and I finished him at 100 meters. I was with a long life hunting friend Mark-Andrew Beukes. It was also with him that I shot my first warthog. This warthog boar weighed 54 kilograms after slaughtering.
