Doxa Deo is a city focused Christian Church with campuses in 9 cities across the world: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, Pinetown, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, London (UK) and Auckland (NZ). Doxa Deo goes beyond having church on a Sunday to serving our cities in such a way, that we are seeing the establishing of the Lordship of Christ in every area of society. In Doxa Deo people are not only concerned for the state of their cities; they take responsibility for their cities. In short, WE ARE SERVING OUR CITIES INTO THE KINGDOM! Everything we do is for this purpose alone: Raising and equipping people who are City Changers. We release Ambassadors of the Kingdom (MOBILISE) People don’t come to church to be part of a programme, they ARE the programme! No matter where our partners function, they understand their purpose: Be light and salt for the earth! They see themselves as Ambassadors of the Kingdom with one mission: To establish God’s glory wherever they function. We get involved (ENGAGE) Through our campuses, we encourage our partners to get involved with their cities and we have found creative ways of doing this. For example, this includes the Doxa Deo TREE process and also our Children’s Homes. Our mission is the transformation of our people and community. The church, then known as Corpus Christi, was in a desperate situation as they suffered from an enormous debt. They even considered closing the doors of the church and selling the building. We were intensely aware that God alone could help us in this situation. God was faithful and within the next two years the congregation was again going strong. That same evening, at a meeting with the congregation, the Holy Spirit confirmed through various members of the church that we have to change our vision, which was focused on our local church, to a vision with Pretoria as the focus. However, Jesus said they should give the people something to eat. We realised that, as a ministry, we should accept the responsibility for the transformation of the city. In the same way God leads us to set up different campuses across the city, all part of one church, trusting in Him to transform the city. After the disciples had settled the people in groups, Jesus looked up to heaven, blessed the bread and the fish, and then the miracle took place. In the same way, Doxa Deo has witnessed many miracles in the establishing of new campuses and the emerging of supporting ministries that are influencing the whole community. The Bible describes how 12 baskets full of broken pieces of the loaves and the fish were gathered up after everybody had eaten. The people could take it back to their cities so that they (the cities) could also be blessed in the same way they were. We had the experience that God wanted to bless other cities with the same strategy of transformation, while we were expanding within the city of Pretoria.
