We arrived at the Eagles Pride Office one morning to find a buzz of activity with grinders going and builders running. The African Ranchers Breeder farm has been part of the Kuipers Group for many years. This year was the second year of Ceva’s Hatchery of the Year challenge and once again the competition was tight, with the scores between the top 10 hatcheries being very close. The current shareholders of Eagles Pride Hatchery are Arend Family Trust (AFT) and LM Family Trust (LMFT). After the establishment of the Company an intense expansion program was embarked upon, as the need for quality day old broilers grew in the South African market. The company expanded quickly by acquiring majority shareholding in a number of breeder farms as well as establishing their own farms. This enabled Eagle's Pride Hatchery to supply to its current volume of 2.4 million chicks per week or 120 million chicks per annum. Eagle's Pride Hatchery is the largest independent, non-integrated day old chick supplier in the country, through dedication, hard and smart work. Eagle's Pride Hatchery is self-sufficient in its supply of fertile hatching eggs. The Breeder Farms are managed by co-owners and the best specialised managers in the country on company owned farms. We are proud to say that Eagles Pride Hatchery stays at the foreground of technology and own three of the most high tech hatcheries in Africa. In a business relationship with Petersime Eagles Pride Hatchery developed a ground breaking single stage hatchery in Koster, North West. This hatchery will supply our core customers with the finest quality Day old Broilers. It was a black day, but out of this disaster, the true grid and determination of the directors, managers and staff of Eagles Pride emerged. With this re-built the Pretoria Hatchery was upgraded with new machines and a change in the flow through the hatchery. Veterinary and technical services are supplied to the group and customers by two in-house veterinarians as well experienced technical experts. The locations of these hatcheries were determined by our customer base in the country. This puts Eagles Pride Hatchery in the position to supply day old broiler chicks into most provinces, which includes Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State, Limpopo and the North West Province. In 2015 a project to build a brand new hatchery in Koster was completed. The hatchery was built to compliment and expand on our expansive North West client base.
