Gerotek is a multi-disciplinary organisation, providing an accredited, independent test and evaluation service, product promotions, corporate events and advanced driver training and development programmes to the security forces, defence and other industries locally and internationally, by utilising unique technologies, skills, expertise, facilities and equipment. Testing support services are also offered to local and international test teams. These support services include assistance with test planning, import and export of test vehicles and equipment, test route planning and booking of facilities, providing workshops and offices at the Gerotek facility where vehicles can be prepared and tested, accompanying test teams on test routes throughout South Africa and providing all the support services required. The availability of the 550 hectare Gerotek facility provides a very unique platform where events can be conducted in a safe and private manner. The value proposition includes a fully licenced restaurant, several conference rooms, unique facilities on which on- and off-road vehicle activities can be presented, outdoor facilities where temporary facilities can be erected to accommodate larger groups, vehicle washing, project management, trained accredited instructors and event co-ordinators, established suppliers to provide unique event décor and other requirements and everything else needed to make your event special. This module will help the driver to react pro-actively towards any possible hazardous situation on the road. The first exercise covered is aquaplaning on the dynamic circular track at Gerotek. The rest of the day is spent on the skidpan where causes of skids, recognition of skids and skid control are covered. This is a necessity as the amount of accidents increases with rain and wet road conditions. This module is presented on a track which consists of dry and wet road surfaces to emphasise the change in driving style that should be applied in different weather and road conditions. are only some of the topics covered during this presentation. This training course provides a taxi-driver with the necessary skills to operate his vehicle in a cost-effective, safe and responsible manner on public roads. It also focuses on facilitating change of a mind set and attitude of a taxi-driver. If the mind set and attitude is not changed, the skills training will not have an impact or influence on the trainees. The basis of all the training programs is theoretical in-class sessions where aspects such as basic mechanics and dynamics of heavy vehicles, driver fatigue, alcohol, responsibility, attitudes of drivers, etc. The lecture is followed by practical defensive on-road driving which covers driving on urban and suburban roads after which drivers are exposed to a range of scenarios that require them to be in control of their vehicles in sudden changing road conditions. This qualification can be clustered in such a way to make provision for a learner not to be away from his/her workplace for too long periods. Standard courses approved by key role players in the industry to be used. Track designed to allow simulation of almost any type of road condition. Training courses are structured according to client specific requirements.
