The Design Programs that Protech Model uses allows a Customer to give us almost any file format and then have us to read them. The main purpose of these Software tools is to design the products that the Customer wishes to have made, Most often a customer will come to Protech Model with an idea for a product. Protech Model can then design the idea into a picture, make a mould, make the parts and also trim the products to give the Customer a complete finished product from his initial idea. The Logo is Cut on our 3 Axis CNC as a single part. Because of the detail required for this product, patterns and then the conversion to a Glass-fibre mould was manufactured for this product. This is one of three Mould sizes that were Vacuum Formed. That is why, in 2008, Protech Model took purchase of the HAAS SR100 CNC machine and since its first arrival, it hasn’t stopped working. The CNC machine gets used for, not only, making of moulds, but also for trimming of Vacuum Formed parts and general cutting of Plastic parts that are either in mass amounts or just parts that need to be cut to exact sizes. A lot of these tasks can be taken care of by the 6-Axis Robot, but often both the CNC machine and the Robot are running at full steam at the same time. There are about 15 years of development in the mould creation process at Protech Model, and those skills still need to be used in the CNC machining process. Protech Model started with Vacuum Forming production in Since then we have learnt more than imaginable and we consider ourselves to be the best in the market. At Protech Model we have 4 top class Vacuum tables. We have mastered, just about, all Material types and can cater for a almost any application. The process to get to Vacuum forming a part happens when a customer comes to us with just an idea. The idea gets put into picture by Designing the product with our Software Programs. When the company was started in 1990, the main market for business was for people who needed moulds to be made. Since then, Protech Model has stopped making moulds for clients, unless the mould will get used at protechmodel for production work. We have close to 20 years of development and research at Protech Model and the skills we have learnt are what sets us above the rest. Glass-fibre moulds are more expensive to make because a negative wood mould needs to be CNC cut so that a positive Glass-fibre mould can be made off of it. Holes get drilled through the mould so that the vacuum tanks can pull the plastic onto the mould when it gets vacuum formed. In a part like this, the vacuum can pull the plastic into a perfect detail. To make a mould like this, multiple boards get glued together and then sent to the CNC department to be cut to be cut into the Logo shape. This mould has no holes drilled in it (unlike the Subaru mould above), but rather has thin lines cut into the mould where the holes would be.
