What you should know about Ramsey Industries
Ramsey Winch is a leading manufacturer of Hydraulic and Electric, Worm Gear and Planetary Gear Winches and Planetary Hoists. Using advanced manufacturing processes, premium materials, highly trained engineers and production personnel, Ramsey Winch is today’s choice for quality, dependability, and endurance. At Ramsey Winch, we changed the towing and recovery industry forever. Trusted for decades by those who seek out the toughest trails and the most demanding terrain. Everything we make at Ramsey, from our rugged, trail-proven off-road self-recovery winches to our durable, powerfully efficient industrial winches, is engineered to get the job done. Ramsey worm and planetary winches and hoists come standard with integrity, experience, quality, and trust. And it’s been that way since 1944, when brothers Claude and Rayburn Ramsey founded Ramsey Brothers Tool & Die in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to manufacture parts, tools, and dies for Douglas Aircraft Company. This new winch was specifically designed for passenger cars and pickup trucks and drew its power from the crankshaft. The Ramsey Winch was perfect for pulling vehicles out of mud and snow and over the years it became the mainstay of the towing and recovery industry. The product was a success, and demand for Ramsey Winches was so high that in 1947 the Ramsey brothers renamed their company Ramsey Brothers Winch Company. In fact, due to the significant impact that Ramsey Winch had on the Towing and Recovery industry, in 1987 the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame inducted Claude Ramsey as the first member who was not actually a part of the Towing and Recovery industry. Then in 1950, Claude Ramsey purchased Rayburn Ramsey’s interest in the company and renamed it Ramsey Winch Company, eventually incorporating the business in Ramsey Winch Company continued to flourish and in 1978, William (Bill) Ramsey succeeded his father and company founder, Claude, as sole owner of Ramsey Winch. Through the years Ramsey Winch has maintained the high standards necessary to deliver a premium product. Today, Ramsey Winch is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ramsey Industries and continues to manufacture winches and hoists in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Headquartered in Tulsa, Okla., Ramsey Industries is comprised of three wholly owned subsidiaries that include Auto Crane, Eskridge and Ramsey Winch. Auto Crane designs and manufactures a comprehensive line of truck-mounted electric and hydraulic cranes, crane service bodies, crane control technologies, accessories, and mobile solutions for the energy, mining, construction, industrial, forestry and railroad industries. Eskridge is a leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of planetary gear drives and anchor drives, digger drives, and multiple-disc brakes. Ramsey Winch designs and manufactures industry-leading industrial and consumer winches for use in towing and recovery, industrial, petroleum, off-road and ATV vehicles.
