Soillab was established in the late 1940’s as part of a leading consulting engineering firm, VKE consulting Engineers. Soillab retained its identity and enlarged its scope internationally. We also have various site laboratories catering to the needs of our clients. Soillab is a sample testing facility, which also caters for on-site testing. Soillab also provides unique services for the Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical industry having it’s own rock and geotechnical laboratory within the group namely Rocklab and Geolab. A laboratory complying with this standard also meets the principles if ISO 9001:2008. Rocklab as a division of Soillab offers a service that conducts all rock related testing for the mining, geotechnical and civil engineering Industry, ranging from the basic tests on rock as well as highly sophisticated tests using highly sophisticated machinery and equipment. Rocklab is one on the few laboratories in the world that can do Triaxials on rocks. Geolab, as a division of Soillab, is responsible for all geotechnical laboratory testing. Geotechnical laboratory testing is an integral part of all geotechnical investigations and geotechnical designs. Quality results provide information to clients to identify and quantify problem soils and also provide engineers and geologists with soil parameters that are required for designs. Geolab is in the enviable position of having highly skilled and qualified staff, and makes use of state of the art equipment and cutting edge technology. We pride ourselves in providing high quality results and excellent customer service. Soillab offers a field testing service consisting of several field teams conducting onsite testing and sampling such as density testing and DCP testing. The company furthermore provides services to carry out small to very large soil and geotechnical investigations including, sampling, profiling, testing and reporting. Laboratory Equipment forms an integral part of the daily operation of any laboratory function. Soillab recognizes this opportunity and strives to fill the gap in providing a related value added service by renting out major and minor equipment. Soillab offers the full range of tests required for the Civil Engineering environment as far as soils and gravels are concerned. This includes tests on aggregate ranging from basic sieve analysis tests to highly sophisticated tests such as the durability mill index tests, as well as stabilization designs including chemical and bitumen stabilization.
