Government in Pretoria, Environmental in Pretoria, Management in Pretoria

Wildlife Ranching South Africa (WRSA) was established in 2005, from the necessity of government's desire to deal directly with a national body and no longer with provincial bodies representing the South African game or wildlife rancher.

WRSA is the national wildlife ranching organisation comprising individuals in the wildlife industry. Food insecurity is South Africa’s biggest challenge and is behind much of the unrest we see daily. It is a national challenge that we, as game ranchers, can do something about. We know this; it is built into and is encapsulated by our vision, mission and strategy documents. We must focus on and stick to our goals, intensify our efforts and make things happen because no-one else will do it for us. The value of wildlife tourism and how can game farmers position themselves. Our mission statement is to promote crocodile farming in order to achieve high quality standards and production volumes for the benefit of all engaged in the industry. To endorse management systems that take into account animal welfare issues and comply with the national objectives of sustainability and environmental protection. To protect and enhance the reputation and integrity of commercial crocodile production. Testing must be in accordance with the laboratory test approved at time of testing. On date of movement, the state veterinarian at origin or the authorized private veterinarian will visit the farm and visually positively identify the animal as the one tested. The state veterinarian or private veterinarian at destination will receive the buffalo on arrival, check the seal number, truck registration number, and the number of animals. If the movement did not comply with stipulated conditions, the buffalo will be sent back to the farm of origin. To protect and promote the breeding of these species to all game farmers and wildlife enthusiasts. To assist in supplying management principles and best practices to maintain animal welfare and genetic variance and integrity. To generate a database of all Roan and Sable breeders and assist government and research initiatives to provide accurate and scientific figures and data. To be critically involved in formulating the National Roan Sampling Protocol with input from industry and distributing it to all breeders concerned as to educate current and prospective buyers about the guidelines and regulations; this will include guidelines for the management of Hybrid or Western Roan populations which are currently under moratorium. Ensure that all expended animals be DNA tested and DNA-marked. Vision We strive to provide insightful industry guidance and inspiration on the most effective management practices of small antelope numbers towards sustainable population levels in Southern Africa and thus ensuring their survival by optimal habitat management and utilisation of natural resources. Ensuring that animal welfare concerns are satisfactorily addressed. Particular emphasis is placed on the use of veterinary pharmaceuticals as a necessary tool for translocation of wild animals. To promote the conservation, protection and proliferation of all species of rhinoceros (rhino). To promote the establishment and maintenance of a national database of rhino and rhino related information. To actively engage with the hunting industry to promote the ethical hunting standards relating to rhino.
