What you should know about ZUID AFRIKAANS HOSPITAL
We had a great experience aal over from reception, childrens ward to theatre staff. The members of the Board of Directors and the management team of the Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital are all highly skilled professionals who have the best interests of the Hospital, its patients, staff and specialists at heart. The Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital now offers an extended range of facilities and services. They needed their own hospital where they could feel at home and be treated in their own language. The word Diakonessenhuis (Deaconesses’ home) was included in the name to indicate the Christian nature of the institution. The hospital was cast in the same mould as the Dutch Deaconesses’ homes where it was customary for the deaconesses to care for the poor. The Bronberg Pharmacy was built, the X-ray facilities were extended and 3 extra surgical theatres were built. 1968 A nurses’ hostel was built to provide residential housing for the nursing staff. 1992 There were further extensions to the hospital and the Gerard Braak wing with consulting rooms was opened. A Board of Directors, who receive no remuneration for their services, manages the hospital. A management team manages the day-to-day running of the hospital. There is an excellent support structure, consisting of dedicated medical specialists in various disciplines who are available to diagnose and treat patients in the most professional and caring way. This wing adds a brand new entrance, a pharmacy, an Emergency Unit, a Cardiovascular Unit, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a catheterization laboratory, a coffee bar and more consulting rooms. The Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital is dedicated to providing only the best in services, facilities and care to patients. A coffee bar, which offers light meals, snacks and reading material, is situated at the entrance to the hospital. They are situated in the original and historical building. Rooms in Ward A and Ward B also have access to a lovely shady veranda, whereas Ward C has access to a tranquil inner-square garden with garden furniture and birdsong. The nursing staff is of world-class standard and care workers are available to make the patient’s stay as comfortable as possible. There is a prayer room situated between Wards A and B. Our in-house Food Services Department, managed by a qualified dietician, prepares hot, home-cooked meals. Meals are planned and prepared individually for patients who require a special diet while in hospital, whereas other patients are offered a choice of meals for the day. Excellent Children's Ward Children are precious and having a child in hospital van be a very difficult time for any parent. We are confident that our Children’s Ward staff are excellent and know very well how to nurse sick children. Children receive meals specially planned and prepared by the in-house Food Services Department for the diet prescribed by their doctors while in hospital.
